Giving Thanks: A Journey Through Life’s Basic Blessings
A Canadian Thanksgiving: Celebrating Life’s Often Overlooked Blessings
Fostering gratitude in the ordinary
Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada, and I would be remiss not to put something out there to reflect how thankful I am for what I have received in life. I’ve worked hard to get where I am today, and there were certainly some challenges I had to overcome. This is a brief entry to express my gratitude and to share some of those items that have made my life the positive experience it is today.
In a way, the challenges were gifts reminding me to stay alert to any inclination to think about what privileges I may have received by being born at the right time and place and to a family with their own set of benefits, being North American, middle-class and of Scandinavian and European descent.
I have talked about the difficulties of being born with a neurodivergent brain, and I won’t go further into that in today’s personal entry. I want to focus on the three things I am most grateful for on this special day.
